Frequently Asked Questions about multi-factor authentication
Here are answers to the most common questions about multi-factor authentication (MFA)
Q. What happens if I don't set up the MFA for my account?
A. You won't be able to access your Crimson Circle account, which means you will not be able to access your downloadable products and any active Cloud Classes you might have purchased.
Q. Can I refuse to register?
A. No. This is a requirement established by the industry and we are obligated to enforce it.
Q. Do I have to use a code every time I log in?
A. No. You can choose to be asked to add the code once every 30 days. The exception to this is when you:
- Change browsers or devices
- Clear the cookies on your browser (cookies are how we remember you).
- Update your browser.
- The 30-day period expires.
Q. Can I use MFA if I don't have a smartphone?
A. Yes. In this case, you need to enable the email verification option.
Q. Why can't I use SMS or phone calls as MFA verification methods?
A. Because it is the least secure method, and we decided to offer the best and safest options for all Shaumbra.
Q. Do I need to register for MFA even to download free products?
A. Yes, this applies to all accounts created in the Crimson Circle.
Q. Will I need the code if I access my Cloud Classes and programs directly from the Connection Center?
A. Yes. When you log in to the Connection Center, you will need to add the MFA code.
Q. Will I need to use the code to access the monthly Shouds?
A. No. As this doesn't require a password, you won't need an authentication code.
Q. Can I use a desktop or browser-based TOTP (Time-based One Time Password) authenticator?
A. No. If you don't want to use an app on your mobile device, you can always choose the email verification option.
